Michael Alago is an author, photographer and former A&R executive for Elektra records. He is mostly known for hanging out with Metallica to their first major label record deal in 1984. In addition to working with Metallica, Alago has worked closely with Nina Simone, White Zombie, The Dead Boys, The Misfits, Cyndi Lauper, and John Lydon. In this episode we catch up with Michael who is promoting his new book, "I Am Michael Alago: Breathing Music. Signing Metallica. Beating Death." We talk about his early days as a music lover in Brooklyn, his love for art, the profession of A&R, signing Metallica, meeting Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, Tim Curry and more. You can still catch Alago's documentary, "Who the F*ck Is That Guy? The Fabulous Journey of Michael Alago" on Netflix. We also play our collaborative Quarantine Cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish you Were Here."
